What Is Float Value in CS2 and Why Does It Affect Skin Price?

Float is the skin’s exact wear number
CS2 skins have a float value that represents exact wear. The public wear label, such as Factory New or Field-Tested, is a broad bucket. Float is the more precise number inside that bucket.
Two skins with the same wear label can look and price differently if one has a much better float. This is why serious traders review both the label and the float value.
Float can create premiums
Very low floats, clean-looking examples, and floats near desirable thresholds can sometimes command a premium. The premium depends on the item, demand, and whether buyers actually care about that float range.
Not every low float is valuable. A low float on an unpopular or heavily supplied skin may not move the price enough to matter.
Compare similar float bands
When checking a potential snipe, compare it to listings with similar float values. A Field-Tested skin near Minimal Wear may deserve a different comparison than one near the lower end of Field-Tested demand.
If you compare a great float to average-float comps, you may undervalue it. If you compare an average float to rare low-float listings, you may overestimate it.
Use float as context
Float should support the deal thesis. The core question remains: can this item realistically sell for more than your cost after fees and time risk?
